The Missions Committee of the PCSA is responsible for the oversight of a number of distinct areas of activity.
The Committee promotes the work of Mission Partners (the Australian Presbyterian World Mission) by: circulating news regarding the activities of those engaged in cross-cultural mission with a view to stimulating support for those engaged in this work; organising deputation visits and promotional tours by recognised individuals or agencies; recommending to the General Assembly grants to be given for cross-cultural mission; and supporting and advising applicants seeking to serve in cross-cultural mission.
A second area of responsibility involves Home Missions. The Committee works with relevant Presbyteries, Congregations and Sessions to oversee the establishment and care of Home Mission Stations. Home Missioners are accredited, appointed and overseen by the Committee.
The Committee is also involved in: Chaplaincy appointments to institutions; advising the church on ecumenical relations; and is responsible for any appointments involving Assistants to Ministers or Deaconesses.
