The Ethics Committee is responsible for the implementation and regional oversight of our Child Protection Policy, Breaking the Silence.

The policy document is comprehensive and has administrative support from the Presbyterian Church of Australia in New South Wales' Child Protection Unit.

The work of the State Committee involves supporting our Congregations as they implement the standard and are audited regarding their compliance with the standard. They also can provide advice and support to those who are going through the processes which activating the standard involves.

Ordinarily, complaints regarding the conduct of ministers, elders or members of the PCSA which do not involve children are dealt with through other protocols, the detail of which is contained in rules of the Church. Some specific complaints regarding the doctrine and practice of ministers must be dealt with by using the General Assembly of Australia Code of Discipline.
